William Jack Hale

William Jack Hale, age 76 of Linn, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at his residence.

Jack was born September 18, 1941, in Jefferson City, a son the late Frank Hale and Bernice Fern (Wilson) Hale. 

Jack was a 1959 graduate of Linn High School where he excelled as a basketball player.

On October 28, 1994, he was united in marriage to Judy Crowe in Linn.  She survives of the home.

Jack owned and operated JR’s Tavern, Jack’s Tavern, and U-Save Grocery Store in Linn.  He also sold cars for Knollmeyer Auto Sales, drove a dump truck and worked as a crop adjuster.

 He was a member of the Linn Masonic Lodge and enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, camping at the Osage River with family and friends, watching Cardinal Baseball and Mizzou Basketball, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  

In addition to his spouse of 23 years, Jack is survived by: five sons, Scott Hale and his wife Maryann of St. Louis, Shane Hale and his wife Donna of  Albuquerque NM, Curt Hale and his wife Lori of Columbia, Craig Hale of Las Vegas, NV, and Craig Russell and his wife Megan of Linn; one daughter, Renzi Russell of Holts Summit; three sisters, Peggy Singer of Jefferson City, Carol Sloan and her fiancé John Boehm of Jefferson City, and LaDonna Hale of Boise, ID; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Josh, Madison, Tristen, Ethan, Ali, and Jordyn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Interment will be in the Linn Public Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation in memory of Jack’s friend, Charlie Peters.
