Virginia Mae Haslag

Virginia Mae Haslag, age 95 of Linn, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Freene Valley Healthcare in Owensville.

Virginia was born June 14, 1921, in Chamois, a daughter to the late Jesse and Mary Heneritta (Tabor) Connell.

Virginia attended school in Loose Creek.

On November 6, 1940, she was united in marriage to Theodore “Ted” Haslag, Sr. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2015.

Virginia was a member of St. George Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Sodality and the Eagles’ Lodge.

Virginia was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, baking pies which were her specialty, dancing, reading, watching birds, and loved traveling to Branson and Florida. Her life could be summed up in two words, “faith and family”.

Virginia is survived by: two sons, Ted Haslag, Jr. of Linn and Dennis Haslag and his wife Martha of Linn; three daughters, Beverly Haaf and her husband John of Jefferson City, Betty Kelly of Owensville, and Judy Bentch of Linn; 27 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 20 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and spouse of 74 years, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Carolyn Ann Mengwasser; a daughter-in-law, Nellie Haslag; two grandsons, Greg Haslag and Alan Atnip; and two great grandsons, Garrett Atnip and Cody Rush.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with her grandson, Pastor Brandon Bentch officiating. Interment will be in the St. George Parish Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
