Violet I. Ball age 90 of Linn passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 in her residence.
Violet was born on December 3, 1919 at Isabell Station in Osage County, a daughter to the late Tom and Dora (Nichols) Ball. As a young girl she attended school at the Enterprise School in Osage County and she lived in Bonnots Mill until 1994 when she moved to Linn.
Violet worked for Tweedies Shoe Company in Jefferson City for 27 years before the plant closed and then worked for International Shoe Factory for 5 years before retiring in 1970.
Violet enjoyed cooking and gardening. In her earlier years, she was a member of the Bonnots Mill Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school secretary for over 40 years as well as a Sunday school teacher. After moving to Linn, she became a member of the St. John United Methodist Church.
Violet is survived by one sister; Anna Belle Lietzow of Sedalia as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by four sister; Retta Groves, Mary Ball, Flora Smith and Nellie Smith as well as five brothers; Ted, Frank, George, Ray and Robert Ball.
Visitation will be 11:00am-12:00pm Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Morton Chapel in Linn. A funeral service will follow at 12:00pm in the chapel with Rev. John Swatosh officiating. Interment will be in the Verdot Cemetery in Bonnots Mill.
