Veronica Johanna (Schaefer) Grellner, age 84 of Linn, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Veronica was born January 13, 1938, in Bonnots Mill, a daughter to the late John Leo and Lucy Frances (Mertens) Schaefer.

Veronica was a 1956 graduate of Fatima High School.

On April 19, 1958, she was united in marriage to Frederick Albert Grellner at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill. He survives at their home.

Veronica was employed at the Missouri Division of Employment Security and was a daycare provider for her grandchildren as well as other children of the community. Veronica and Fred cleaned Legends Bank, main and east end locations, for 32 years retiring in 2017. Veronica also cleaned for JCMG here in Linn.

She was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn, St. Ann’s Sodality, Quilting Club, and Catholic Knights of America.

She enjoyed quilting, canning, growing flowers, and watching the birds. Veronica loved taking family trips to the Branson area. She also took great pride in learning and sharing her family history.    

In addition to her spouse of 64 years, she is survived by: seven children, Sharon Grellner of Linn, Jeanne Grellner of Loose Creek, Michael Grellner and his wife Connie of Linn, Deborah Mebruer and her husband Dale of Rich Fountain, Mary Jo Johnson and her husband Terry of Linn, Kevin Grellner and his wife Lisa of Linn, and David Grellner and his wife Jennifer of Linn; 18 grandchildren, Bethany (Steven) Brandt, Brandon (Samantha) Mebruer, Brittany Mebruer, Bryce (Brittany) Mebruer, Troy Grellner, Amber Grellner, Brooklyn (Thad) Rehmert, Natalie (Johnny) LePage, Autumn Grellner, Ethan Grellner and his fiancé Dakota Souders, Kyle Johnson and his fiancée Samantha Nivens, Sylvia Grellner, Alex Grellner, Tyler Grellner, Sydney Grellner, Austin Grellner, Evan Grellner, and Nicole Grellner; two step grandchildren, Ryan (Wendie Bender) Johnson, and Andy (Shannon) Johnson; nine great grandchildren with one on the way, Anna Brandt, Lucy Brandt, Royce Mebruer, Charlotte Mebruer, Vasen Brandt, Lennie Mebruer, William “Will” Mebruer, Jameson Rehmert, Vincent Brandt and baby Mebruer due in July; six step-great grandchildren, Ashton Johnson, Kylie Johnson, Karsen Johnson, Gabby Johnson, Olivia Johnson, and Lilly Johnson; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.     

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: one brother, Charles Schaefer, one sister, Catherine Schaefer, and one brother-in-law, Ambrose Grellner.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with Fr. Colin Franklin as the Celebrant. Interment will be in St. George Catholic Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. George School or St. Louis of France Catholic Church.
