Sylvester A. Kixmiller, age 79, of Linn, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Capitol Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, surrounded by his loving family.
Sylvester was born on December 25, 1944, in Langley Field, Virginia, a son to the late Marvin and Bertha (Frank) Kixmiller.
Sylvester was a 1962 graduate of Linn High School.
On August 27, 1966, he was united in marriage to Charlene Bernskoetter at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City. Charlene survives at their home.
Sylvester was employed as a computer programmer with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 33 years until he retired on October 1, 1999.
He was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn.
Sylvester enjoyed fishing, crafts, and just being outdoors. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Sylvester is survived by a daughter, Dana Kixmiller of Linn; a son, Timothy Kixmiller of Republic; four grandchildren, Joshua, Samantha, Kaitlyn, and Ty (Monica) Kixmiller; four great grandchildren, Madison, Izabella, Lily and Tucker Kixmiller with another on the way; a brother, Carl (Carol) Kixmiller of Linn; two sisters, Alverda Oppermann and Marcella Heath; along with several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Sabrina and Catherine Thompson; two great grandsons, Isaac and Isaiah Kixmiller; two sisters, Karen Starke and Marilyn Blackburn; and a brother, Gary Kixmiller.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 p.m. with Fr. Colin Franklin as the Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. George Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Little Sisters of the Poor.
