Sylvester "Ches" Frank Schaefer

SYLVESTER ‘CHES’ FRANK SCHAEFER, age 85, of Wichita, KS passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in Wichita.

He was born January 8th, 1933 in Loose Creek, Missouri, to Gerhard and Gertrude (Schlangenstein) Schaefer.

He was a graduate of Loose Creek High School. After graduation, he served his country in the United States Army.

He retired as Firestone CEO and District Manager.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth; children Ted (Cathy) Schaefer, Tim (Lyndee) Schaefer, Lisa Schooler; 7 grandchildren, Lindsey (Brent) Willey, Matt (Dayton) Schaefer, Adam Schaefer, Alex Schooler, Spenser Schooler, Mollie Schaefer and Katie Schaefer; 4 great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Breckon, Perry and Boston; brother Larry (Patricia) Schaefer; sisters Bernice (Harry) Kliethermes & Liz Waggoner; many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Vince Schaefer and son-in-law Brian Schooler.

Services: Rosary 10 am and Mass 10:30 am, Thursday May 3, both at St. Jude Catholic Church, Wichita.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in his memory to St. Jude Catholic Church, 3130 N. Amidon Wichita, Kansas 67204.
