Shirley Jean Evans "Shirley Girl", age 64, of Loose Creek, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2016, at her daughter's residence surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born on March 12, 1951, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late William "Bill" and Pearl (Blackburn) Gentges.
Shirley was a 1969 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia.
Shirley was employed at McGraw Edison, Westinghouse, Prime, BJ's Tavern, Ron's Place, Dave's Tavern and retired from Scholastic. She also cleaned houses.
Shirley cherished the time she spent with her friends and family especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, canning, baking and cutting wood.
Shirley is survived by: her son, Brandon Dawson of Currituck, North Carolina; a daughter, Brandi (Travis) Holterman of Vienna; three grandchildren, Jacob Dawson, Lane and Haven Holterman; a brother, Steve (Betty) Gentges of Linn; four sisters, Elaine (Gerald) Backes of Bonnots Mill, Beverly (Steve) Lowry of Holts Summit, Edith (Dan) Kirsch of Frankenstein and Janet (Melvin) Orscheln of Loose Creek; special friend, Dave Pleus of Taos, along with nephews, nieces, and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by: her infant brother, Vernon Gentges; nephews, Dale Orscheln and Kevin Ford; niece, Robynn Gentges and great niece, Addie Gentges.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Morton Chapel in Linn with a Memorial Service at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. I. C. Medina officiating.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Shirley Evans Grandchildren Education Fund.
