Shirley (Backes) Eichholz, age 75, of Bonnots Mill, passed away on December 16, 2020, at her residence surround by her family.
Shirley was born on October 1, 1945, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late Clarence Backes and Julia (Rotter) Backes Kremer.
On May 22, 1965, she was united in marriage to Jerry Eichholz at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Frankenstein. He survives of their home.
Shirley retired earlier this year from cooking at the Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Loose Creek. She was known to the school children as the “Hump Day” lady.
She was a member of the St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill where she served on the finance committee. She was also a former school board member of Our Lady Help of Christians School in Frankenstein.
Shirley enjoyed reading, road-tripping, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, Shirley is survived by: two sons, DeWayne (Cindy) Eichholz of Jefferson City and Greg (Cheryl Haase) Eichholz of Wardsville; five grandchildren, Tyler (Billy) Granneman of Hallsville, Samantha (Cory) Stegeman of Jefferson City, Shaley Eichholz of Eugene, PFC Dolyn Eichholz currently serving our country in Alaska, and Skiley Eichholz of Eugene; one great grandchild, Murphy Ousley; one sister, Helen (Tom) Veltrop of Jefferson City; three brothers-in-law, Eddie (Vernie) Eichholz, Ron (Pat) Eichholz, and Norman (Alice) Eichholz; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn (Ron) Mertz and Mary Eichholz; along with extended family members Dan Beatty and Kevin Temeyer and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Stegeman; stepfather, Martin Kremer; four brothers-in-law, Charlie Eichholz, Irvin Linnenbrink, Bob Eichholz, and Richard Stegeman; and three sisters-in-law, Marlyn Linnenbrink, Betty Lepper and Leona Eichholz.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020, at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill with Fr. Anthony Rinaldo as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Louis of France Parish Cemetery.
Facial covering and social distancing are required while in attendance.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Louis of France Grotto Restoration.
