Ruth S. Schlemper, age 87 of Mt. Sterling, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born February 27, 1937, in Granite City, IL, a daughter to the late Harvey and Gertrude (Brumagen) Myeburger.
Ruth was a 1954 graduate of Washington High School and attended two years of college.
On August 15, 1959, Ruth was united in marriage to Edmund Schlemper in Villa Ridge Missouri. He survives of the home.
Ruth worked as a secretary for the Missouri Department of Social Services before her retirement in 1997.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Linn where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a representative of the Gasconade Valley Baptist Association.
Ruth enjoyed crocheting, reading, taking photos, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, playing the piano, and spending time with her “sugar babies”.
In addition to her spouse of 64 years, Ruth is survived by: three sons, Duane Schlemper and his wife, Joyce of Greenville, IL, Daniel Schlemper and his wife Maribeth of Mt. Sterling, Dale Schlemper and his wife Lisa of Freedom; one brother, Lawrence Myeburger and his wife Linda of Owensville; two sisters, Alice Crecelius and her husband Don of Union and Doris Door of Villa Ridge, MO; former daughter-in-law, Kathie Runge of Belle; 13 grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Jonathan, Danny, Jacob, Sara, Abby, Michael, Carly, Madlyne, Maranda, Adriana, and Rebecca; 15 great grandchildren, Jordyn, Waylon, Wayne, Vincent, Kately, Rhett, Huxton, Janie, Eli, Zara, Cindy, Raelynn, Canton, Dielah, and Micah, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, David Schlemper, a brother, Clarence “Sonny” Myeburger, a sister, Opal Crecelius, and a daughter-in-law, Jane Schlemper.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Linn.
An additional visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until funeral service time which will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Linn with Rev. David Krueger officiating. Interment will be held at Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
