Roman Michael Scheulen, age 82 of Linn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City surrounded by his loving family.
Roman was born December 30, 1940, in Westphalia, a son to the late Albert and Mary (Haslag) Scheulen.
He was a 1959 graduate of Fatima High School.
On June 15, 1963, he was united in marriage to Pauline Schwartze at Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna. She survives at their home.
Roman was employed by the Missouri Department of Conservation, and later became a route driver of Holsum Bread Company for 30 years before retiring. After retirement, he drove a school bus in Jefferson City and then drove for the Rudroff Bus Company in Linn on the Frankenstein and Rich Fountain routes.
He was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Linn and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4838 in Linn and a 4th Degree member of the St. Jude’s General Assembly 2811 of Westphalia. Roman and Pauline were Rosary Rally leaders of Our Lady of Fatima in Linn for whom Roman had a deep devotion. Roman was also a member of the Teamsters Union.
Roman enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, trail riding, and mushroom hunting. He was a self-taught guitar player. Roman took great pride in his “hobby farm” and looked forward every year to the Scheulen Family campout.
In addition to his spouse of 60 years, Roman is survived by: two sons, Daniel Scheulen and his wife Melissa of Taos and Dennis Scheulen and his wife Lisa of Taos; four daughters, Debra “Debbie” Jaegers and her husband Scott of Linn, Donna Bell and her husband John of Marceline, Doris Haller and her husband Brad of Rich Fountain, and Denise “Dede” Turner and her significant other, Kyle Maasen of Westphalia; two brothers, Vernon “Kelly” Scheulen and his wife Emily of Jefferson City and Allen Scheulen and his wife, Rose Ann of Rich Fountain; one sister, Theresa Woehr of Westphalia; 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren with one on the way, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Leon, a grandson, Austin Harmon and a brother-in-law, Richard Woehr.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at St. George Catholic Church in Linn with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at St. George Catholic Church with Fr. Colin Franklin as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. George Parish Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Helias Foundation, Masses or a charity of the donor’s choice.
