Robert L. "Bob" Peters age 77 of Linn passed away Friday, September 17, 2010 at St Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City surrounded by his family.

Bob was born June 26, 1933 in Frankenstein, the son of the late Francis and Loretta (Huesgen) Peters.

Bob was united in marriage on December 30, 1953 in Linn to Gertrude Strope who survives of the home.

Bob worked in several different venues throughout his lifetime, but trucking was "in his blood." One of his proudest accomplishments was graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in accounting in 1982 from Lincoln University.

He was a member of St George Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, American Legion and was a dedicated instructor for the RCIA program for many years, introducing new members to the Catholic faith. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from June 1953 to July 1955 and was honorably discharged.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and Christian. He enjoyed fishing and working in his garden, especially with his grandchildren and helping others.

In addition to his beloved spouse of nearly 57 years, Bob is survived by ten children: Michael R. and his wife Jan Peters of Chamois, Linda J. and her husband Mark Oligschlaeger of Jefferson City, James L. Peters of Linn, Russell J. and his wife Debbie Peters of Linn, Kenny J. and his wife Judy Peters of Linn, Mary F. Kramer of Rich Fountain, Andrew E. and his wife Sharon Peters of Linn, Jessica A. and her husband Scott Farley of Taos, Christopher P. Peters of Linn, Jeremy P. and his wife April Peters of Linn, twenty-nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three sisters: Patty Bonnot of Jefferson City, Shirley Schmitz of Linn and Rosemary Peters of Kansas City, one brother: Dan Peters of Bonnots Mill as well as many nieces nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one brother: Richard Peters, one sister: Myrtle Peters as well as one grandchild: Bethany Mengwasser.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the Morton Chapel in Linn with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at the St George Catholic Church with Fr. I.C. Medina as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. George Church Cemetery.
