Rita Ann Holtschneider

Rita A. Holtschneider, age 92 of Rich Fountain, peacefully entered her Heavenly home on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Westphalia Hills surrounded by her loving family.

Rita was born March 2, 1926, in Vienna, a daughter to the late Timothy and Helen (Dahlhoff) Redel.

Rita was a 1944 graduate of Freeburg High School.

On November 27, 1948 she was united in marriage to Hubert G. Holtschneider at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg.  He preceded her in death on October 11, 2005.

Rita was a mother and homemaker her whole life and prepared such good homemade food.  She loved the simple things in life (the things that really mattered).  She deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was extremely passionate about flowers.  Throughout her life even up through her last days in the hospitals and nursing facility, all would comment on how sweet she was, always giving a smile. 

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality.

Rita is survived by: her seven children, Pat (David) Philbert of Rich Fountain, Charles (Irene) Holtschneider of Jefferson City, Mary (Randy) Lovell of Clarksville, MO, Dan and Alan Holtschneider of Rich Fountain, Timothy (Nancy) Holtschneider of Rich Fountain, and Lee (Amy) Holtschneider of Linn; 13 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Bernice Redel of Jefferson City as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and spouse of 56 years, Rita was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Holtschneider and a Great Granddaughter, Addyson Keeler.  She was the last of the Redel siblings and the last of the Holtschneider family of brothers and sisters.

A Prayer Service will begin at 2:30 p.m. and visitation will then be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. William Debo as the celebrant.  Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sacred Heart Endowment Fund or Hospice Compassus.
