Patsy A. Hetzel

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of a truly remarkable soul, Pat A. Hetzel, age 88, of Linn, who passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

Born on January 21, 1935, in Linn, to the late Charles Robinson and Clara (Huesgen) McCleary, Pat embarked on a journey that would touch the lives of countless others with her unwavering love, compassion, and bold spirit.

In 1953 Pat graduated from Linn High School and on July 21, 1959, she was united in marriage to her eternal partner and the love of her life, Gordon “Gene” Hetzel in Jefferson City, Missouri. Gene would proceed her in death in 2013.

Pat's life was a testament to hard work and perseverance. She never turned away from a challenge, tackling every obstacle with determination and grit. Her industrious nature and relentless commitment left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Of her numerous positions, Pat served as a manager for Cowley County Juvenile Center and as a counselor for the State of Kansas Department of Corrections. Pat was also a community volunteer for Linn Fire Protection District and Osage Ambulance District. She held an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Pat's generosity knew few limits, and her compassion for friends, family and strangers was boundless. She extended her hand to anyone in need, always willing to open her heart and her home. Pat's selflessness was a guiding light, illuminating the paths of many. She truly lived the creed of giving more than she ever received.

Funny, and quick-witted, Pat had a way of lighting up any room with her presence. She loved to join family and friends at the casino, always convinced she might go home with a jackpot. Her sharp humor and honesty made her a cherished friend and family member. She was never afraid to speak her mind, always standing up for what she believed in and advocating for those who couldn't advocate for themselves.

Pat loved nature and enjoyed working in her garden and loving and spoiling her many pets. Her love of laughter and her infectious giggles were a constant reminder of the joy she found in the simplest pleasures in life.

On October 17, 2023, Pat left this world a better place than she found it. Her legacy of kindness, love, and boldness will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind. Pat’s spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, reminding us to be unapologetically ourselves, to love with an open heart, and to never forget the healing power of laughter.

Our dearest Pat will be deeply missed, and her place in our lives will forever be treasured in our hearts. Thank you for the laughter, the love, and the immeasurable impact you've had on all of us.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Lisa Vesey of Linn; four brothers, Charlie (Laverne) Robinson of Loose Creek, Lance (Mary) Robinson of Holts Summit, Ed (Judy) Robinson of Linn and Les (Linda) Robinson of Linn; five sisters; Elizabeth (Gary) Muenks of Linn, Joanie Swartwood of Kansas City, Kansas, Anita Robinson of Jefferson City, Sandy (Frank) Haslag of Linn and Wanda (Frank) Pfahl of Luystown; three brothers-in-law, Rick (Cheryl) Hetzel of Cape Girardeau, Ronnie (Karen) Hetzel of Reseda, California, and Eddie Sullens of Port Richey, Florida; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
