Mary Ellen Hoerschgen of Bonnots Mill died peacefully Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the Westphalia Retirement Center.
She was born to Ellen (Bret) and Rhey Vogel on December 23, 1921, at Linn, Missouri. She was married on June 5, 1943, in Bonnots Mill to Wilfred Hoerschgen, who died June 13, 2001.
Most of Mary's life was spent in Bonnots Mill. She and Wilfred owned and operated Hoerschgen's CafAC. from 1950 to 1967. She then worked for the State of Missouri and retired from the Division of Employment Security in 1986 after 18 years of state service. She belonged to St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill.
Mary enjoyed her grandkids and great grandkids, fishing, quilting, crocheting, playing cards and going on gambling trips.
She is survived by four sons, Tom Hoerschgen and wife Joan of Strafford, Jim Hoerschgen and wife Yvonne of Bonnots Mill, John Hoerschgen of Kansas City, Kansas; Paul Hoerschgen and his fiancAC.e Caroline Canfield of Columbia; and two daughters, Diana Bailey and husband Ken of Loose Creek, and Cindy Kever and husband John of Bonnots Mill. She is also survived by two sisters, Eunice Forck, Jefferson City, and Ruth Kuster and husband Harold, Jefferson City, and one brother, Ray Vogel of Higginsville, 12 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 8 step great grandchildren, and one step great great grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Vogel and Arbell Vogel, Jefferson City, and Bernice Davis of Fulton
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Earl, Ted, Herb, Les, Harry, Eugene and Julius and two sisters, Rita Vogel and Leoba Kremer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at St. Louis of France Church in Bonnots Mill with Father Charles Pardee and Father George Kramer as Celebrants. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Church Cemetery, Bonnots Mill.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, at Morton Chapel in Linn with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
