Marvin E. Baker, age 86 of Chamois, Mo. passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Oak Tree Villas in Jefferson City.

He was born April 16, 1922 in Mint Hill, MO. the son of the late Lester and Emma (Oberkrom) Baker.

Marvin attended the Liberty School and graduated from Chamois High School in 1940.

He was united in marriage on December 31, 1941 to Alverna E. (Uthe) Baker in Jefferson City, Mo. She preceded him in death on September 27, 2006 after almost 65 years of marriage.

Marvin was an elder at the Oklahoma Church of Christ and was a member of the Chamois Lions Club.

He was a devoted husband and father whose hobbies included hunting and fishing. He and his wife, Alverna, enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family.

Marvin owned and operated Baker Chevrolet in Chamois for many years frequently winning awards for outstanding sales and service. He also contracted transportation for the Osage County R1 School District and was a lifelong grain and cattle farmer.

He is survived by one son, Bob and his wife Sharon Baker of Morrison, Mo.; two daughters, Judy and her husband Dr. Nate Byam of Jefferson City, Betty and her husband Dr. Kenneth Johnson of Chesterfield, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, Jason Baker, David Baker, Doug Glick, Amy Gansmann, Cory Byam, Sarah Dickinson, Kim von David and Keith Johnson; 7 great-grandchildren, Natalie Dickinson, Mariah Hedrick, Malena Gansmann, Hannah Johnson, Lauryn Johnson, Ethan Johnson and Chase Glick.

In addition to his parents and his wife Alverna, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Ray, Evert and Oral Baker and two sisters, Pearl Duncan and Opal Carwile.

Visitation will be Monday, January 12, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Morton Chapel in Chamois, Mo.

An additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Oklahoma Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Oklahoma Church of Christ with pastors Gary Baker and Mark Gregor officiating. Interment will follow in the Oklahoma Church of Christ Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Oklahoma Church of Christ or the Cemetery Fund.
