Marla S. Lane

Marla S. Lane, age 64, of Loose Creek, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023, at her residence.

Marla was born on September 18, 1958, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late John and Agnes (Wieberg) Brenneke.  Her mother survives in Wardsville.

Marla was a 1977 graduate of Jefferson City High School.

On March 30, 1985, she was united in marriage to Mark Lane in Wardsville.  He survives at their home. 

Marla was employed at the Missouri Department of Social Services for 35 years, retiring in 2014.

Marla enjoyed canning, spending time at the river with her family, including her cat Tig.  She enjoyed her “Sister time” and she was very dedicated to taking care of her mother, Agnes.   Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.   

In addition to her mother and husband of 37 years, she is survived by one brother, Michael Brenneke of Jefferson City; two sisters, Michelle Kliethermes and her husband Curt of Linn and Linda Wyss and her husband Bryan of Vienna; one brother-in-law, Donald Lane Jr. and his wife Gloria of Jefferson City; along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two nephews, Johnathon Brenneke and Christopher Lane.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Morton Chapel in Linn with a Funeral Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Deacon Robert Schowengerdt officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. 

Expressions of sympathy may be made to a local veteran’s organization.
