Marie G. Branson

Marie G. Branson, age 86 of Linn, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at St. Joseph's Bluffs in Jefferson City.

Marie was born January 28, 1927, in Linn, a daughter to the late Loyd and Gladys (Shanks) Hicks.

Marie attended Linn High School.

On October 20, 1945, she was united in marriage to Clete F. Branson in Bland. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1989.

Marie worked for 55 years as a clerk and bookkeeper at the Knoerr Department Store in Linn.

Marie was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Linn and enjoyed embroidery, baking Christmas cookies, and spending time with her family. Marie was a constant caregiver who didn't enjoy the limelight but was always busy behind the scenes.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Sharon Shaffer and her husband Lynn of Jefferson City and her granddaughter, Carrie Shaffer of Maplewood.

Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Krueger officiating. Interment will be in the Solid Rock Cemetery in Judge.
