Lynn E. Shaffer, age 80, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at The Bluffs in Columbia.
Lynn was born on November 18, 1944, in Shelbyville, IL. a son to the late Dwight and Thelma Ragan Shaffer.
Lynn was a 1962 graduate of Fulton High School and a 1964 graduate of Linn State Technical College in Linn with a degree in drafting. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
On July 3, 1965, he was united in marriage to Sharon Branson at First Baptist Church in Linn. Sharon survives at their residence.
Lynn was employed at Missouri Department of Transportation as a Draftsman for 35 years retiring in 1998.
Lynn was a member of First Baptist Church in Jefferson City where he sang in the church choir, and he traveled with the Friendship Club Choir. He was also member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and DAV.
Lynn was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed bowling, volleyball, softball and participating in co-ed teams. He was very involved with sports, later being a referee for volleyball games. Lynn enjoyed just being around people and he also enjoyed collecting many things including coins, and Pepsi merchandise.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, Lynn is survived by his daughter, Carrie (Kristin Mower) Shaffer of St. Louis; two brothers, Richard (Martha) Shaffer of Holts Summit and Stanley (Patricia) Shaffer of Nashville, TN.; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Per Lynn’s wishes, he is to be cremated and no services to be held. Inurnment will be in the Solid Rock Cemetery in Judge.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the State Technical College of Missouri for scholarships or to Solid Rock Cemetery in Judge.
