Lucy C. Ford, age 86 of Linn passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Autumn Meadows Skilled Care Facility in Linn.
She was born April 12, 1923 in Cooper Hill a daughter to the late Millard and Etta (Jett) Hassler.
Lucy graduated from Belle High School in 1941. On March 23, 1942 she was united in marriage to Francis Ford in Cooper Hill. He preceded her in death in October 1983.
She was employed by the Baptist Convention in Jefferson City where she worked as a mail clerk for the Word and Way magazine until her retirement in 1989.
Lucy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Linn and enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with her family. In her seventies, she walked in several Volksmarches.
Lucy is survived by two sons, Anthony and his wife Beth Ford of Brazito and Jim and his wife Sandy Ford of Jefferson City; two daughters, Sandy Vossen and her husband Larry of O'Fallon, MO and Joyce Simmons and her husband John of O'Fallon, IL; one sister, Dorothy Bacon of Taos; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son Robert Ford, one daughter Gwendolyn Ford, a grandson Kevin Ford as well as three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Morton Chapel in Linn.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at The First Baptist Church in Linn with Rev. David Krueger officiating.
