Leonard O. Keilholz, Sr., age 84, of Chamois, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Leonard was born on April 23, 1939, in Chamois, a son to the late George and Edith (Benedict) Keilholz.
He was a 1957 graduate of Chamois High School.
On September 14, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary Kremer at Our Lady of Help Catholic Church in Frankenstein. She survives at their home.
Leonard grew up farming with his father George. He passed his love of farming on to his sons, Lenny and Glenn, who he has farmed with until his passing.
Leonard was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois.
In addition he was married to his wife for 59 years, Leonard is survived by three daughters, Frances (Ed) Knaebel of Jefferson City, Donna (Joe) Thoenen of Linn, and Maryann (Paul) Jacquin of Linn; two sons, Leonard “Lenny” (Nan) Keilholz Jr. of Chamois and Glennon (Julie) Keilholz of Chamois; 12 grandchildren, Holly (Brent) Thomas and Shelly Knaebel; Melissa (Josh) Gibson and Megan Thoenen; Rachel and Jessica Keilholz; Anthony, Katie and Caleb Keilholz; Rebecca, Renee and Lauren Jacquin.
Leonard is also survived by two sisters, Rose Rost of Morrison and Mel Rost of Morrison; and one brother, Ray Keilholz of Jefferson City; one sister-in-law, Shirley Keilholz of Chamois; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Leonard is preceded in death by one sister, Loretta Inserra; three brothers, George Keilholz, Jr., Elmer Keilholz, and Clarence Keilholz; three brothers-in-law, Lou Inserra, Omar Rost and Hank Rost; and three sisters-in-law, Margaret Keilholz, Jane Keilholz, and Carol Keilholz.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Morton Chapel in Chamois.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois with Rev. David Means as the Celebrant and Deacon Robert Schowengerdt assisting. Interment will follow in the Most Pure Heart of Mary Parish Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the wishes of the family.
