Joseph J. Fick, age 84, of Linn, passed away Monday July 27, 2009, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
He was born December 23, 1924 in Rich Fountain, a son to the late Joseph and Helen (Bexten) Fick.
Joseph attended school in Rich Fountain and high school in Westphalia. He was a World War II Army veteran.
On June 30, 1948 he was united in marriage to Loretta Scheulen in Rich Fountain. She survives of the home.
Joseph and Loretta owned and operated their own dairy farm in Linn.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Linn Wildcat fan. Joseph also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joseph was a member of St. George Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the VFW Post 4756 in Linn.
Survivors include: three sons, Mark and his wife Therese Fick of Columbia, Luke Fick of Loose Creek and Matt and his wife Linda Fick of Chamois; five daughters, Carol Cronhardt and her husband Jack of Columbia, Ellen Little and her husband Pat of Omaha, NE, Mary Peters-Koenigsfeld and her husband Andy of Bonnots Mill, Rose Backes and her husband Terry of Linn and JoAnn Backes and her husband Glenn of Bonnots Mill; two sisters, Claire Huber and her husband Bill of Washington, MO and Pauline Moench of LeClair, IA; twenty grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Fick; two sisters, Juliana Fick and Margaret Fick; one son-in-law, Carter Peters and one brother-in-law, Don Moench.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Morton Chapel in Linn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2009 at St. George Catholic Church with Fr. I.C. Medina as the celebrant.
Interment with full military honors will follow in St. George Church Cemetery.
