John J. Fick, age 85 of Rich Fountain, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011, at his residence.
John was born March 26, 1925 in Rich Fountain, the son of the late Anton and Cunie (Boes) Fick.
After attending school at Rich Fountain and graduating from high school in Westphalia, John served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in Austria for a time.
John loved to farm and after several years working on a dairy farm in Clyde, MO, he came home to Rich Fountain where he was a dairy farmer until his retirement in 1986.
John was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 317.
He loved gardening and John especially loved to grow and share his roses with his friends and neighbors.
John is survived by: one brother, Ben Fick and his wife Chris of Rich Fountain; two sisters, Mary Scheuler and her husband Leo of Mexico, MO, and Sr. Helen Fick of Bridgeton, MO; a sister-in-law, Edna Fick of St. Louis and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by: two brothers, William Fick and Frank Fick; and one sister, Sr. Catherine Fick, SSM.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain with Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Philip Niekamp as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with military honors.
