Jerry W. Bunch, age 76 of Linn, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He had fought a courageous seven-year battle with cancer.
Jerry was born on September 15, 1945, in Eldon, a son to the late William and Ethel (Hees) Bunch.
He attended and graduated from School of the Osage in 1963 and graduated from Linn Technical College (now State Tech) in 1965.
Jerry was employed by the Missouri State Highway Department as a Senior Structural Detailer from 1965 until his retirement in 1996.
Jerry was united in marriage on December 4, 1964, to Fern Tynes at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Linn. He was a member of Linn Community Christian Church.
Jerry loved sports – particularly basketball, baseball, fishing, hunting, and golf. He was instrumental in teaching his grandsons the game of golf and basketball and teaching his granddaughter, Paige, how to pitch fastpitch softball. Above all, Jerry loved spending time with his family. He and Fern attended all of the grandchildren’s school and sporting events - both locally and away. Jerry took great pride in his home and his yard. He was often spotted on a mower or a tractor taking care of maintaining 8 beautiful acres of grass. Prior to his illness, he and Fern loved to travel and see sites around the country.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Fern, of 57 years, and a sister, Wilma Vaughn of Ashland. He is also survived by his children: Lorie (Dale) Rost of Linn and Mike (Denise) Bunch of Union, and grandchildren, Ryan Rost, Paige Rost, Tanner Bunch, Taylor Bunch, and Kaylee Bunch.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by an infant sister, and two brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the Community Christian Church in Linn.
