Janet Q. Wilcox, 92 of Linn, Missouri died on Monday, February 11, 2008 at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Mo.

She was born October 15, 1915 in Florida, New York to the late Raymond and Helene (Jessup) Quackenbush. Janet graduated from Middletown High school in Middletown, New York. On June 12, 1950 she was married to Virgil M. Wilcox in Middletown, New York, who preceded her in death.

Janet was an active participant in Presbyterian woman's work in both St Louis County, (Kirkwood) as well as in Osage County, Mo. She served as President of the Women's Association in Kirkwood and President of the St. Louis Presbyterial. She also served as President of Synod of Missouri as well as being an Elder in the church.

She was an avid quilter beginning her quilting career at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church. In Osage County she participated in quilting groups in Chamois at the United Church of Christ, Linn United Methodist Church and at her church, Salem United Presbyterian Church in Hope, Mo.

In 1993 Janet helped with food preparation for the many victims of the flood waters in Chamois. For many years, after her husband Virgil passed away, she volunteered for the Linn 3rd grade reading program. She was privileged to watch the many young people grow up having contributed to their education.

Janet was an accomplished musician learning the piano and organ from her mother many years before in Orange County, New York. She played piano part time at the Linn United Methodist Church and monthly at Autumn Meadows Nursing Home. She also was the church organist at Salem United Presbyterian Church missing very few Sunday's. In later years Janet volunteered at the Linn Food Pantry.

Janet is survived by two daughters, Barbara Miller of Linn, Mo and Lois and husband Ron Botkin of Waterloo, IL. Five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Eugene and Brewster Quackenbush and 1 grandson, John Monroe Lee.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 17, 2008 from 9:30am until 10:30am at the Salem United Presbyterian Church in Hope, Mo. Memorial Services will follow at 10:30am in the church with Rev. Joseph Trower officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirkwood, Mo. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to the Salem United Presbyterian Church.
