James Raab, age 81, of Rich Fountain, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary’s in Jefferson City.
James was born August 10, 1940, in Rich Fountain, a son to the late Anton and Catherine (Mengwasser) Raab.
He attended Reichel School near Rich Fountain.
James was a lifelong farmer raising cattle and crops on the family farm, alongside his brother and best friend Alfred. He and his brother also worked together in their wood cutting business for over 25 years. James will be remembered as a kind, gentle, compassionate man, who was humble, hardworking, resourceful and a loyal steward of the good Lord’s land… a noble man who loved his family deeply and was a true and trusted friend.
He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain.
James is survived by: three sisters, Mary Ann Hurst of Jefferson City, Leona Martin and her husband Norman of Jefferson City, and Pauline Stegeman of Wardsville; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Loretta Lairmore, Mildred Taube, and Irene Hoffman; one brother, Alfred Raab; five brothers-in-law, James Larimore, Joe Taube, Steve Hoffman, Junior Hurst, and Ed Stegeman; one niece, Judy Taube; and one great niece, Millie Luebbering.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rich Fountain. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. William Debo as the Celebrant. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Sacred Heart Endowment Fund.
