James “Jim” Harding, age 64, of Linn, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at his residence.
He was born March 24, 1957 to Charles & Anna (Huber) Harding in Leavenworth, Kansas.
After leaving high school he joined the military, where he spent much of his career. He served in the United States Air Guard and United States Army, including serving overseas in South Korea. He was an active duty member of the Missouri National Guard in Jefferson City until his retirement in 2009. In post retirement he was employed by the State of Missouri.
He was a loving father and grandfather who loved watching his children and grandchildren succeed. He enjoyed working on his property in rural Linn and family get-togethers.
Survivors include his three children, Abigail (Justin) Carwile of Loose Creek, Jennifer (Jason) Griffin of Columbia, and James Michael "Mike" (Michelle) Harding of Fulton; five grandchildren, Madeline, Amelia & Joseph Carwile of Loose Creek, and Aidan & Kellan Griffin of Columbia; sisters Monika Jewell of Atchison, Kansas, Judith Hadock of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Barbara Warden of Atchison Kansas; and his special friend Marianne McCarthy of Brentwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles Edward Gerard Harding, and his sister Maria Brigetta "Margrit" Zuber.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Morton Chapel in Linn with a prayer service immediately following at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Colin Franklin officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
