Hildegarde Mary Haslag

Hildegarde Mary Haslag, age 105, of Loose Creek, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at her daughter Pat's residence surrounded by her loving family.

Hildegarde was born on August 21, 1917, in Jefferson City, a daughter to the late Frank and Frances (Zeilmann) Schneider.

She attended school in Koeltztown. As a young lady, she worked in many homes and enjoyed singing in the church choir in Koeltztown. 

On April 12, 1939, she was united in marriage to Aloysius August Haslag at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia.  Aloysius preceded her in death on July 24, 2004.

Hildegarde was a very active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek where she sang with the church choir for over forty years.  She was also a member of the St. Ann Sodality where she served as the treasurer, the sewing circle, and the Senior Citizen’s Club. 

Hildegarde was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, listening to music, playing the harmonica, and dancing. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends. 

Hildegarde is survived by her five children, Patricia (Richard) Schaffer of Loose Creek, Laren (Donna) Haslag of Loose Creek, Arlene (Stan) Beck of Jefferson City, Janet (Chuck) Kremer of Loose Creek, and Steve (Gloria) Haslag of Loose Creek; 24 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband of 65 years, Hildegarde was preceded in death by two sons, John and LeRoy Haslag and two brothers, Adolph and Alphonse Schneider.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Anthony Rinaldo as the Celebrant.  Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or School in Loose Creek.
