Grace Ollien Smith, age 84, of Linn passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born October 22, 1925, in Osage County, MO, the eldest child of the late David and Dora (Baclesse) Kloeppel.
During World War II, Ollien worked for Champion Canvas Supply Company in Chamois.
On November 17, 1946, she was united in marriage to Claborn B. Smith in Linn. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1994.
Ollien was a lifelong resident of Osage County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Linn where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and helped with Vacation Bible School. She also enjoyed being involved with the Senior Adult Group at her church. Ollien was an OATS volunteer for several years and she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, sketching, mushroom hunting, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.
Ollien will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by: five daughters, Sandra Atkinson and her husband Robert of Jefferson City, Sonda Atchison and her husband John of St. Charles, Brenda Keeling of Jefferson City, Carol Sederburg and her husband Dale of West Plains, Pamela Roddy and her husband Donald Jr. of Columbia; twelve grandchildren and two step grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Mounger of Jefferson City, Patsy Schulze and her husband Rudy of Washington, MO, and Doris Niepert and her husband Larry of Lake Ozark; one sister-in-law, Bernece Kloeppel of Mount Sterling and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and spouse, Ollien was preceded in death by: one son, Stephen C. "Snuffy" Smith; two brothers, John "Buddy" Kloeppel and Bobby Frank Kloeppel; one sister, Mary Ann Kloeppel; and one son-in-law, George E. Keeling III.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Linn.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 18, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Linn with Rev. David Krueger officiating. Interment will follow in Lane Cemetery.
