Evelyn Sutton, age 94, of Richmond Heights, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Sunrise on Clayton Assisted Living Center in Richmond Heights.
Evelyn was born June 23, 1925, in Hope, a daughter to the late Henry and Mary (Schmidt) Stock.
She attended Liberty Grade School in Mint Hill and was a graduate of Linn High School.
Evelyn taught school for Osage County in 1944 and 1945.
On June 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Charles “L.D.” Sutton at Oklahoma Church of Christ. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2015.
Evelyn was employed by Wagner Electric Company in St. Louis for 30 years.
She was baptized as a young girl at Oklahoma Church of Christ. The major joy in her life was working with her church. She was a charter member of St. Ann Christian Church in St. Ann and Christview Christian Church in St. Charles. After retiring, Evelyn and L.D. moved to Arkansas where she attended Hot Springs Christian Church for 20 years.
Evelyn is survived by two nephews, Bob Baker and his wife Jacinta of Coats, NC and Don Baker and his wife Pat of Richmond Heights; one niece, Barbara Coffin and her husband Richard of the State of Arizona; along with great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Chuck Lortz and Ruth and Carl Baker.
Private family service will be held. Interment will be in the Oklahoma Church of Christ Cemetery.
