Evelyn C. Schmitz

Evelyn C. Schmitz, age 87 of Loose Creek, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Autumn Meadows Skilled Nursing Center in Linn.

Evelyn was born November 3, 1921 in Loose Creek to the late Linus and Josephine (Backes) Haslag. She attended school in Loose Creek.

On May 20, 1944 Evelyn was united in marriage to Leonard H. Schmitz in Loose Creek. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2000.

Evelyn was employed at McGraw-Edison/Shopsmith for over 20 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed working on the family farm and growing her flowers.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek and a member of St. Ann's Sodality.

Evelyn is survived by: two sons, Terry and his wife Shirley Schmitz of Bonnots Mill and Dale and his wife Janice of Bonnots Mill; one daughter Cheryl and her husband Jim Wilbers of Loose Creek; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a brother in law, Cletus and his wife Helen Schmitz of Loose Creek.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lincoln Haslag and Everett Haslag and one sister Alvina Castrop.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek with Fr. I.C. Medina officiating. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Missouri River Hospice.
