Edward W. Pfahl, 79, of Loose Creek, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Edward was born December 3, 1938, in Russellville, a son to the late Karl and Ida (Mueller) Pfahl.
Edward was a 1956 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia. He served in the United States Army.
On June 24, 1961, he was united in marriage to Bette (Backes) Pfahl at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill. Bette survives at their home in Loose Creek.
Edward was employed at Unilever in Jefferson City for over forty years, retiring in 2000. He was also employed at McGraw-Edison and on the river barge for Markum and Brown.
Edward was a lifelong farmer. When he was not busy on the farm he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards especially preference, target shooting and socializing with his friends in the community. He was also an avid sports fan, whether it was the St. Louis Cardinals or one of his grandchildren’s events.
Edward was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek, the Bonnots Mill Knights of Columbus Council #2027 and the American Legion in Jefferson City.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, Edward is survived by his children: Sharon (Bob) Hagan of Jefferson City, Michael (Linda) Pfahl of Loose Creek, Barbara (Troy) Toebben of Loose Creek, Ryan (Cindy) Pfahl of Westphalia and Alicia (Samuel) Rohrer of Cumming, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Lauren and Emily Hagan, Madison and Megan Pfahl, Veronica, Katrina and Karl Toebben and Sophia and Saddie Pfahl; two brothers, Frank (Wanda) Pfahl of Frankenstein and Richard Pfahl of Bonnots Mill; and three sisters, Theresa Pfahl of Arlington, Virginia, Hilda (Ray) Hardebeck of Independence, Kentucky, and Rita Clark of Denver, Colorado.
In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by two sisters, Frieda Pfahl-Turner and Mary Pfahl.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Morton Chapel in Linn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Rev. Callistus C. Okoroji and Rev. George Kramer as the celebrants. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery in Loose Creek.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Loose Creek.
