Edgar M. Lock

Edgar M. Lock, age 90 of Linn, Mo passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Autumn Meadows Skilled Nursing Facility in Linn.

He was born on September 2, 1918, a son to the late Phillip J. and Catherine (Koetting) Lock in Bonnots Mill where he spent most of his youth. He worked at the Koetting Lumber Yard in Bonnots and attended high school there. He had an early interest in music and learned to play the saxophone. He started his own band, The Ed Lock Orchestra and played at many local dances in the area along with his brother Elmer.

On September 12, 1937 Edgar was united in marriage to Eleanore"Polly"Heinen. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2008.

Edgar lived in St Louis during the war years, working for Curtis-Wright Aircraft. In 1946 he purchased Traders Oil Company and returned to Bonnots Mill. He operated this business until his retirement in 1975.

He was a member of the Linn community and St George Church since 1959. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1955 and was active in the Linn Lions Club.

Mr. Lock was an avid outdoorsman, going on hunting and fishing trips throughout North America with his wife. In 1975, Ed and Polly purchased their first RV and begin their many trips throughout the US, Alaska, Canada and Mexico. He and Polly built a cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks where they spent much time fishing on their boat, the "Pollyedda", and entertaining family and friends.

Survivors include three sons and their spouses; Eugene and Sandra Lock, Donald and Loretta Lock and Carl and Shirley Lock. One daughter; Sandra and husband Mark Ardin. One sister; Elizabeth Bailey. Seven grandchildren; Wesley Lock, Kirsten Ryu, Stacie Temple, Nicole Harris, Fritz Wicks, Kristy Timmermeyer and Robert Wicks as well as fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Elmer Lock.

Visitation will be 5:30pm-8:00pm Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Mass of Resurrection will be 10:30am Friday, June 12, 2009 at St. George Church with Fr. I.C. Medina as the Celebrant.
