E. Glenn “Scrubby” Nichols, age 60, of Linn, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at his mother’s residence in Linn.
Scrubby was born on October 18, 1962, in Jefferson City, a son to the late Delmar E. Nichols and Judy Kay (Turnbow) Nichols, who survives in Linn.
He was a 1981 graduate of Linn High School, and he attended Linn Technical College.
Starting in 1985, Scrubby became an over the road truck driver. In the 1990’s, he partnered with Glenn Thomas creating Capital Custom Cycles in Jefferson City. From 2006 to December 2022, when his health failed, he was owner/operator of his own truck.
Scrubby enjoyed motorcycles, fast cars, wrenching, fishing, hunting, making anything out of metal, welding, and shooting muzzle loader guns. He later found a talent he didn’t know he had as a self-taught artist, he enjoyed painting and drawing. His greatest enjoyment was giving his family and friends a “hard time”.
In addition to his mother, Scrubby is survived by a son, Trevor Nichols of Jefferson City; a brother, David Nichols of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Rebecca Layton and her husband Chris of Linn and Sarah Nichols of Springfield; several nieces and nephews along with several “Brothers of the Wind”.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin “Smokey” Nichols.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Morton Chapel in Linn with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Kenny Dunn, officiating.
