Dorothy Ann Brauner, age 93 of Bonnots Mill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 14, 1929, in Jefferson City, a daughter of the late Lawrence Heimericks and Margaret (Wilbers) Heimericks Gerber.
She was united in marriage on June 21, 1949, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville, to Hubert John Brauner who preceded her in death on April 8, 1990.
Dorothy was a 1947 graduate of St. Peter High School. Before marriage, she worked in the office at Fashion Cleaners. After marriage she worked at a car dealership in Fulton. After moving to Jefferson City, Dorothy worked at International Shoe Factory and Cheesebrough-Ponds. In 1968, she began working as a supervisor in the Accounting Section of the Missouri Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle Division. She retired from state employment after 25 years of service on March 1, 1994. Dorothy was also a bookkeeper for Hubert’s company, Brauner Masonry Construction Company, 1953-1980 and Dan’s Ground Maintenance, 2009-2023.
Dorothy enjoyed playing music, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she will be greatly missed.
Survivors include five children, Iris (Louis) Wilbers of Bonnots Mill, Nina (James) Holtmeyer of Bonnots Mill, Daniel (Jamie) Brauner of Bonnots Mill, Beth Holtmeyer of Linn, and Lisa (Ronald) Kempker of Bonnots Mill; twelve grandchildren, Laura (Melvin) Distler, Julie (Josh) Luebbering, Kevin (Liz) Wilbers, Scott (Karen Burge) Kever, Christy (Darren) Evers, Alyssa (Gary) Bruemmer, Michelle (Miles) Goins, Ryan Brauner, Travis (Alicia) Holtmeyer, Derek Holtmeyer, Jennifer (Justin) Winkelman, and Jason (Shelby) Kempker; four step-grandchildren, Twyla Williams, Nick Holtmeyer, Andrew Vaughn, and Casey Valverde; 40 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson; a sister-in-law, Caroline Kraus; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son-in-law, Robert Holtmeyer, a sister, Betty (Edward) Hammond; step-father, Christopher Gerber, Sr., a step-brother, Christopher, (Erma) Gerber, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Morton Chapel in Linn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Rinaldo as the Celebrant. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.
