Charles "Woody" William Barrett

Charles “Woody” William Barrett, age 82, of Jefferson City, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at his residence.

Woody was born on February 16, 1942, in Jefferson City, a son to the late Charles Joseph and Stella Marie (Herbrandt) Barrett.

Woody was a 1960 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

He was employed at Jefferson City School District until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral in Jefferson City.

Woody enjoyed playing chess, reading, watching the birds and he had a passion for riding motorcycles. He was a very tender and kindhearted person.

Woody is survived by his two sisters, Patricia Snellen of Jefferson City and Deborah Barrett of Jefferson City; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and two special family friends, Paula Schanuth and Debby White. 

In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Barrett; a sister, Caroline Cliburn; two infant siblings, Stella and Joey Barrett; a brother-in-law Larry Snellen; and a niece, Laura Snellen-Crocker. 

Graveside services and Full Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Baileys Creek Cemetery near Linn with Deacon Anthony Valdes officiating.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Baileys Creek Cemetery.
