Charles "CW" William Kaullen

Charles “CW” William Kaullen, age 89 of Taos, formerly of Chamois, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at SSM Health St. Mary’s in Jefferson City.

CW was born March 28, 1933, in Chamois, Missouri, a son to the late Joe and Elanora (Bauer) Kaullen.

CW was a 1951 graduate of Chamois High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956.

On, May 15, 1951, he was united in marriage to Gladys Crowe in Arkansas.  She preceded him in death on February 21, 2020.

CW was employed at Central Electric for 30 years. He then was a over-the-road truck driver for six years retiring in 1985.  During those six years, CW and Gladys were able to visit the lower 48 states. 

He was a member of Chamois United Methodist Church, Chamois Masonic Lodge and the Chamois American Legion.

 CW enjoyed jug and crappie fishing, coon hunting with Redbone and Bluetick coon hounds, dancing, playing bingo, playing cards especially Pitch, and spending time with his family and friends. 

Charles is survived by: three sons, Charley Kaullen and his wife Beverly of New Franklin, Michael Kaullen and his wife Sheryl of Liberty and Dennis Kaullen and his wife Julia of Olathe, KS; one daughter, Ann Ruettgers and her husband David of Bonnots Mill; ten grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. 

In addition to his parents and his spouse of 68 years, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Keilholz. 

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Chamois United Methodist Church. Funeral and Masonic services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Sabra Paulsmeyer officiating. Full Military Honors will follow the service. Private family inurnment will be held at Deer Creek Cemetery at a later date.
