Catherine Elizabeth Balkenbush

Catherine E. Balkenbush, age 90 of Holts Summit, formerly of Loose Creek, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. Catherine was born May 30, 1922, in Loose Creek, a daughter to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Kamus) Ruettgers. Catherine attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Loose Creek. On May 24, 1938, she was united in marriage to Arthur Balkenbush in Loose Creek. He preceded her in death in 1976. Catherine was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and was an excellent cook. Survivors include: three sons, Donald and his wife Gerre Balkenbush and Bill Balkenbush both of Holts Summit and James "J.B." and his wife Ann Balkenbush of Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Jean Otte of St. Louis; one brother, John and his wife Olivia Ruettgers of Loose Creek; one grandchild, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her spouse and parents, she was preceded in death by: two infant daughters, six sisters and four brothers. In keeping with Catherine's wishes, cremation will take place and memorial services will be held at a later date.
