Brenda Strope, age 58 of Morrison, ended her battle with cancer at Heisinger Bluffs on Sunday, October 3, 2021, with family by her side and the Chiefs winning on the TV.
Brenda Kaye (Parkhurst) Strope was born on October 11, 1962, to the late Bobby and Patricia (Griffith) Parkhurst in Hannibal, Missouri.
She was joined in marriage with Keith Strope on March 29, 1980, and they went on to raise four acceptably functional adults.
Brenda was a graduate of Linn High School and received her nursing education at Nichols Career Center. She was a nurse for over 30 years and spent most of that time taking care of the elderly. Anyone who worked with her could tell you she held you to a higher standard, wasn’t going to ask you to do anything she herself wasn’t willing to do and made you better by working to her standards. She was loved and disliked in equal measures, usually by the same people. The families of her residents will tell you they knew their family members were in good hands.
Brenda enjoyed camping, antiquing, gardening, going to rummage sales, and reading. Most of which she could do with her family; especially her grandkids, whom she liked way more than her kids. Although they could come too. Together with Keith, they had four children, eight grandchildren, and one energetic great grandson.
Brenda will be waiting for: her husband Keith, her children Jason Strope of Linn, Amanda (Strope) Ryan of Linn, Wesley and Jessica (Elkins) Strope of Union, and Emily Strope of Linn, not including all their friends that adopted her over the years, her grandchildren, her surviving siblings and too many nieces and nephews to possibly keep track of.
She was met by: her parents, one brother, two nieces, a nephew, her grandma, a beloved mother-in-law and brother-in-law. We have no doubt she was also met by all the people she has taken care of over the years.
Brenda had a servant’s heart and made an impact on all she knew. Her ability to care for others was portrayed in both her personal and professional lives. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Morton Chapel in Linn. Funeral Services to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Dan Hostetler officiating.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, PO Box 871847, Kansas City, MO 64187.
Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Chapel, Linn, Missouri (897-2214)
