Bernard "Bernie" Morton age 84 of Linn, Mo passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
Bernie was born on September 18, 1924, a son to the late Clyde and Beulah (Marmet) Morton in Mansfield, Ohio.
After graduating from high school in Linn he went back to Mansfield and worked for Westinghouse during part of World War II. He then moved back to Linn and went to work with his family as a funeral director at Morton Funeral Home staying there until he retired.
Bernie was a member of the Linn Masonic Lodge #326 A.F. & A.M., the Shriners and the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church in Linn. Bernie enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include three brothers, Vernon Morton of Linn, Glendale "Corky" Morton of Linn and Larry and his wife Jaydine Morton of West Plains, one sister; Shirley Morton of Richardson, Tx, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, David "Dick" Morton and one sister Geraldine McCarty.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Morton Chapel in Linn. Funeral services will follow at 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
