Arthur T. Porting, age 75 of Loose Creek, MO., passed away Monday, July 20, 2009, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
He was born on January 27, 1934 in Loose Creek, a son to the late Herbert and Gertrude (Muenks) Porting. He attended school in Loose Creek and graduated from Fatima High School. Arthur was a Navy veteran.
On October 6, 1962 he was united in marriage to Catherine Ann Rotter in Bonnots Mill, MO. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2000.
Arthur and Catherine owned and operated Muenks Feed Mill in Loose Creek as well as their own turkey farm.
Arthur enjoyed playing cards and was an avid FOX News viewer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, the Loose Creek Community Center and the National Turkey Federation.
He is survived by: one son, Keith and his wife Kathy Porting of Ashland; four daughters, Lisa Pittman and her husband Randy of Taos, Lana Beck and her husband Terry of Jefferson City, Lara Voss and her husband Ron of Linn, and Leah Ann Laughlin and her husband Jason of Bonnots Mill; three brothers, Alan and his wife Shirley Porting of Elston, Richard and his wife Jean Porting of Loose Creek, and Charles and his wife Carol Porting of Bonnots Mill; three sisters, Grace Jansen and her husband Albert of Bonnots Mill, Sylvia Roling of Loose Creek, and Karen Call and her husband Jim of Brazito; sixteen grandchildren, Caleb Pittman, Jessica Haefke, Ashley Porting, Nicholas Porting, Colleen Beck, Mandy Beck, Brendan Beck, Logan Beck, Colby Bexten, Bethany Voss, Jessica Voss, Noah Voss, Maria Voss, Elizabeth Laughlin, Isabell Laughlin, and Ava Laughlin as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arthur was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bill Roling.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Morton Chapel in Linn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Church in Loose Creek with Father Tom Seifner as the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.
