A.J. Flanagan

A.J. Flanagan, age 80 of Linn, MO., passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Westphalia Retirement Center in Westphalia.

He was born November 7, 1928, in St. Louis, MO to the late Arthur John and Clara (Turner) Flanagan.

A.J. graduated from Linn High School and then attended Jefferson City Junior College for two years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.

On July 7, 1956, he was united in marriage to Geneva V. Lock in Linn. She preceded him in death on October 9, 2005.

A.J. worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell for more than 30 years and was a shop steward for the Communication Workers of America. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by: two sons, Michael J. and his wife Kara Flanagan of Jefferson City and Patrick J. and his wife Nancy Flanagan of Jefferson City; one daughter, Janet F. and her husband Brian Hagedorn of St. Clair, Mo.; one sister, Patricia and her husband Paul Melton of Columbia; six grandchildren, Sean, Alec, Maggie, Molly, Erin and Clara.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2009, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Morton Chapel in Linn.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009, at Morton Chapel with Fr. I.C. Medina officiating. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery.
